Authentic African Drums

Discover the rich sound and cultural heritage of Ghana with our authentic African drums. Each drum is meticulously handcrafted using locally sourced wood and natural animal skins, ensuring every piece is a true reflection of Ghana’s vibrant traditions and craftsmanship.

Crafted with Care from Ghana:

  • Wood: Our drums are made from sustainably sourced hardwoods native to Ghana, such as Mahogany and Odum, known for their resonance and durability. Each piece of wood is carefully selected and hand-carved by skilled artisans to create a rich, deep sound that resonates with the heartbeat of African culture.

  • Skins: The drumheads are made from goatskin or cowhide, carefully prepared to ensure maximum tension and durability. The process of stretching and preparing the skins is done traditionally, preserving the authentic sound quality that has been passed down through generations.

We sell two ranges: Standard (single weave) and Professional (double weave). Double weave increases the sound and look of drum. They are hand made in Ghana by professional musicians and have been made to be played and loved. The drum body is made from Tweneboa, a fast-growing African Cedar wood. All our wood is sustainably sourced with a license from the Ghana Forestry Commission, and is more eco-friendly than hardwood or fiberglass alternatives. The drum heads are made from durable goat skins and we use high-quality rope to tune the drums.

Lighter than hardwood drums, these djembes are easy to carry and very manageable, ideal for schools and workshop leaders. Lighter than hardwood drums, these djembes are easy to carry and very manageable, ideal for schools and workshop leaders

Authentic Sound and Craftsmanship:

Traditional instruments are expertly tuned to produce the distinct sounds that are the hallmark of African music. Whether played for ceremonial purposes, celebrations, or performance, these drums capture the soul of African rhythm and culture. These djembes have a fantastic sound range, from sharp, piercing slaps to deep, resonant bass tones; they can produce everything from a roar to a whisper.

Drums are available in various colors and are made with either goat or cow skin. Cow skin drums require a more delicate crafting process and are priced higher. Wood color may be lighter or darker depending on season. When contacting us indicate order number and drum skin you would like.
